In the Fifth Book Cognition, we will read and discuss Türker Kılıç’s book titled “Bağlantısallık, Yaşamdaşlık.” We will meet online for three sessions on July 23, July 30, and August 6, every Wednesday evening between 20:00–22:00.
“Bağlantısallık, Yaşamdaşlık” is not merely a neuroscience book, it is also an ambitious text about the transformation of the scientific method, the shifts in cultural paradigms, and the possibilities of a new way of thinking. Türker Kılıç invites us to contemplate numerous themes together, centering on the connective structure of the brain while engaging with Spinoza’s philosophy, curiosity, and the scientific and cultural ruptures that have followed Covid-19. The book provides a foundation for a multidisciplinary dialogue that spans from neuroscience to philosophy and from cultural theory to the history and philosophy of science.
This time, the book club will be moderated by Yunus Şahin, a member of the Cognitive Science Master’s Program at Boğaziçi University and a co-founder of CogIST. Throughout the event, participants are expected to complete a weekly reading of approximately 50 pages from the designated sections, after which the content will be discussed together within the framework of theoretical perspectives, contemporary cognitive approaches, and the philosophy of science.

Book Cognition aims to create a discussion space where students, researchers, and enthusiasts from outside the field who are interested in cognitive science can come together around a single book and theme, engaging in intellectual exchange and collective study over several weeks. In this sense, each Kitap Kognisyon event can be thought of as a book club focused on one book. For every session, we will choose a book and hold weekly meetings moderated by a facilitator. These events will be held online on a designated day each week, and we hope they will provide a rewarding and stimulating experience for all participants. Each Book Cognition will span several weeks, during which participants will meet at a fixed time every week to discuss the book in depth. Participants are expected to read the assigned chapters before each session.
The participation fee for the event is 550 TL per person (including VAT). Payment details will be shared via email with participants who complete the registration form as soon as possible.
