The presentation centers on the idea that <strong>language's evolutionary <\/strong>history may rely not only on <strong>biological foundations <\/strong>but also on <strong>cultural <\/strong>and <strong>social innovations<\/strong>. Did <strong>social structures <\/strong>and <strong>interaction patterns <\/strong>shape language rather than <strong>neural innovations<\/strong>? We will evaluate these and similar questions through <strong>cognitive theories <\/strong>working with evolutionary predictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Yasin Tuna Kur\u015funlu<\/strong> completed his <strong>undergraduate <\/strong>education at the <strong>University of Toronto in cognitive science <\/strong>and <strong>linguistics double major <\/strong>with a <strong>minor in anthropology <\/strong>. His undergraduate project is on the <strong>evolutionary predictions of cognitive theories<\/strong>.
