It first discusses the fundamental components of commonsense reasoning and how these can be represented within AI systems. Then, it analyzes the performance of ChatGPT 4.0 and Claude Sonnet 3.5 by testing them across six different benchmarks. The findings reveal key limitations in these models\u2019 information integration, contextual flexibility, and reasoning processes. While questioning whether AI truly engages in commonsense reasoning, the study also sheds light on classical problems in artificial intelligence, such as the representation problem and the frame problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Zeynep Kabadere<\/strong> is a researcher who completed her <strong>bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees in philosophy<\/strong> at <strong>Middle East Technical University (METU)<\/strong>. Her work focuses on the <strong>philosophy of mind<\/strong>, <strong>philosophy of artificial intelligence<\/strong>, <strong>large language models (LLMs)<\/strong>, and <strong>reasoning processes<\/strong>.\n\nShe conducts research on understanding the information-processing capacities of artificial intelligence systems, with a particular interest in issues such as the <strong>representation problem<\/strong> and <strong>commonsense reasoning<\/strong>.
